Beauty

Beauty: A single word with diverse meanings.

Beauty has a widespread and somewhat different notion in each part of the world, no doubt the beauty standards and the need to be perfect has been a platform to be socially acceptable. The phrase beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder is true in certain aspects of life. Every part of the world has different beauty notions some believing it’s not what you see but what you feel while other stay firm that an attractive face and body is what beauty is all about.

MUA/beauty blogger I’ve been lucky enough, because of my sophomore year’s final project of sociology, to get a chance to interview an awe-inspiring freelance make up artist, Ayesha Naveed, who is also a beauty blogger as well as a youtuber. And the fact that she is the most humble and sweetest person to talk to, was a cherry on top. She answered the questions so beautifully that I couldn’t resist at all and I had to make a blog post about it.

Alright, enough talks. Let’s go the interview right away.

Q) Explain the notion of beauty?

Ayesha Naveed: Beauty is happiness. To me, beauty is just not about the looks, it is not also about the color of your skin, nor the shape of your face, even the style of your hair. It is not about the physical appearance but the inside look.

It is a combination of both the internal and the external beauty. For me, internal beauty always takes the priority over external beauty and I would say somebody to be beautiful, only when somebody is beautiful internally and also externally with internal beauty taking priority over the external priority.

Q) What do you think about cosmetics now-a-days?

AN: The cosmetics, especially the makeup industry is growing rapidly. We see a lot of new trends popping out every other day and women crazily follow them. Indeed, each year companies offer more scientifically advanced products due to developments in technology, ingredients, and formulas. The importance of cosmetics today helps to enhance our appearance and make us feel more confident. With more cosmetics on the market today than ever before, it becomes obvious to us that they play a great role in our everyday life.

Q) How important has been the role of “Beauty products” in your career building/ empowerment?

AN: Beauty products play a vital role for a makeup artist or a beauty blogger. For me, beauty & makeup products defines a beauty blogger. The more knowledge I have about the beauty products, the more I can deliver it to my followers.

When people think of Makeup Artists they usually focus on their skills, experience, training and creativity but fail to realize the importance of beauty products and tools. A makeup artist can have the best training, unparalleled experience, flawless tips and tricks, however to realize their true talent they need the right makeup products and tools for the job.

 Q) Do you apply Make-up for your own self or the society?

AN: I love playing with makeup at home. It’s my profession and a hobby too. I like to indulge myself in it as this is something I love doing. It gives me a thrill to see what I can do with makeup and how I can improve my skills. Similarly, I also wear makeup out. I like to look presentable as I feel makeup boosts my confidence and makes me comfortable too. I like wearing it in public as I feel being a makeup artist, people would recognize and acknowledge my work more than going out with no makeup.

Q) In your opinion is the present generation obsessed with looking good (in cosmetic terms)? What could be the positive and negative effect of it?

AN: Of course. Sometimes it seems like everywhere we turn nowadays, people are being judged for what they look like and the image they present to the world, rather than who they are and what they’ve achieved. I believe in myself and I feel comfortable the way I am. Everybody is okay just the way they are. Everyone is unique, capable and loveable, with special talents and strengths, with inner wisdom and creativity – a human being of value. Makeup or no makeup, feel beautiful all the time. So accept and respect yourself and get comfortable with the real you, inside and out.
